(formerly U10 or Novice)

Under 11 - Ages 9 & 10

The U11 season is set up as follows:

🔸U11 is co-ed
🔸U11 teams play with 12-20 players per team
🔸U11 teams begin to introduce player positions, such a goalies
🔸U11 player evaluations start in March, as teams are made in April
🔸U11 can have one friend request (please email the Registrar
🔸U11 teams have two practices per week for 1 hour, Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu
🔸U11 practices and plays the whole field, so floor times are more competitive
🔸U11 players require full gear

U11 is typically played with teams created for parity. If the club has enough players to create more than 1 team, the teams are formed with the intent of creating equal strength teams (parity teams). There are tryouts and evaluations allow this to occur.

NOTICE: In the circumstance that a player misses evaluations or joins the club after teams are made, it is at the discretion of the Registrar to which team the player will be placed. The goal is to create equal strength teams, and the Registrar makes their best effort to accomplish this.


Games

👟 U11 teams typically play two games per week. They are with other clubs in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council (GELC). Games may be on Saturdays.

🥍 U11 teams participate in 1-2 tournaments (at the Coach's discretion), and may travel out of Edmonton. 

💰 U11 players are expected to participate in team fundraising, to offset tournament costs and build team camaraderie.

🥅 U11 division participates in Playoffs or Provincials.

🎽 JERSEY: You will be loaned a team jersey for Games. Jerseys will only be brought to Game days.


Equipment required:

  • Helmet with a full face cage (Hockey helmet is approved for use)
  • **Mouthguard (junior or youth)
  • Lacrosse Stick (youth size)
  • Gloves (hockey is acceptable; however, lacrosse gloves are more flexible and make it easier for the players to handle their stick while learning)
  • Shoulder pads / chest protector (can use a hockey one)
  • Kidney belt (specific to the sport of lacrosse)
  • Elbow pads 
  • Indoor runners (need grip for slippery floors)

** Mouthguards are mandatory for U11 age division during games, as per ALA Regulation 8.05.
