U17 Women

(formerly U16 or Midget)

Under 17 - Ages 15 & 16

The U17W season is set up as follows:

🔸U17W is for female players 
🔸U17W teams play with 12-20 players per team
🔸U17W teams play player positions, such a goalies
🔸U17W player evaluations start in January
🔸U17W can have one friend request (please email the Registrar)
🔸U17W teams have 2 practices per week for 1 hour, typically Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs
🔸U17W practices and plays the whole field, so floor times are more competitive
🔸U17W players require full gear

U17W (Women) is played with levelled teams - A, B, C. There are tryouts, and evaluations allow this to occur. "A" level try-out dates are posted in January 

The Women's Division is set to play against all the other women's teams in the same age division in the GELC league the entire season. 

NOTICE: In the circumstance that a player misses evaluations or joins the club after teams are made, it is at the discretion of the Registrar to which team the player will be placed. 

Games

👟 U17W teams typically play two games per week. They are with other clubs in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council (GELC). Games may be on Saturdays, and out of town.

🥍 U17W teams participate in 2-3 tournaments (at the Coach's discretion), and will travel out of Edmonton. 

💰 U17W players are expected to participate in team fundraising, to offset tournament costs and build team camaraderie.

🥅 U17W division participates in Playoffs or Provincials.

🎽 JERSEY: You will be loaned a team jersey for Games. Jerseys will only be brought to Game days.

Equipment required:

• Helmet with a full face cage (Hockey helmet is approved for use)
• **Mouthguard (youth or adult)
• Lacrosse Stick (youth or adult size)
• Gloves (lacrosse gloves)
• Shoulder pads / chest protector (can use a hockey one)
• Kidney belt (specific to the sport of lacrosse)
• Elbow pads 
• Indoor runners (need grip for slippery floors)

** Mouthguards are mandatory for U17 age division during games, as per ALA Regulation 8.05.
