2018 ALA and GELC Program Changes

 
Mini Tykes:
ALA
  • ALA changed the development program of mini tykes to Option L as per the CLA rule book.
  • Mini Tyke Games will be 1 hour
  • 5 minute warm up, 3 15 minute periods and 3 minute period breaks.
  • Clock is run time with only stoppage being for time outs.
  • There will be no shot clock at mini tyke
  • Fall Back Rule as per CLA Rule Book
  • Games will be cross floor to a maximum of two (2) games per floor.
  • Each team shall be composed of three players, and a recommended 6 substitute players
  • No mandated shift changes
GELC
  • All teams to participate in three games played on three Saturdays (maybe a Sunday) thru the season, with an additional 3 Games to be played on the June 17,18 weekend.
  • In club participation will occur on Wednesday from 6 to 7 pm, but this may vary in individual clubs.
 
Tykes
ALA
  • All changed the development program of Tykes to Option L
  • Tyke Games will be 1 hour
  • 5 minute warm up, 3 15 minute periods and 3 minute period breaks.
  • Clock is run time with only stoppage being for time outs.
  • There will be no shot clock at tyke
  • A scoresheet must be completed and submitted.
  • All Goals and assists and penalties are recorded and the score is displayed.
  • A differential of more than five goals is not displayed.
  • Regular game no longer mandated shift changes.
  • Fall back Rule Applies
GELC
  • Tykes will continue to play Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with games start times being anytime from 6pm to 7 pm and game end times anytime from 7 pm to 8 pm. Preference were arena scheduling allows will be to 6pm starts. 
  • Games will be scheduled in close geographic proximities, not league wide.
 
Novice Boys and Girls
ALA
  • All novice box lacrosse games shall be played in accordance with CLA Rules according to LTAD Option L
  • Provincials all teams may enter at their wish their rostered team to provincials the July 13,14,15 in Calgary.
GELC
  • Novice games will start the week of April 14th and run thru to the 21 of June.
  • There will be an increase of four additional games per division.
  • Playoffs will commence on June 25, and run week nights thru to July 11.
 
Pee Wee Bantam, Midget Boys and Girls
ALA
  • Will play in accordance with the CLA rule book.
  • Provincials all teams may enter at their wish their rostered team to provincials the July 13,14,15 in Calgary.
GELC
  • Games will start the week of April 14th and run thru to the 21 of June.
  • There will be an increase of 4 games per division.
  • Playoffs will commence on June 25, and run week nights thru to July 11.
 
Post Midget Lacrosse
  • The GELC zones (4) will each host a Post Midget Lacrosse team for players born in the two years after midget lacrosse.
  • These teams will play a game on Mondays and will have one practice a week. League to start week of April 14th and run to June 18th
  • There will be no tournaments and or provincials and may only play with in the GELC boundaries.
  • They are able to affiliate to junior lacrosse.
